Animal Care and Use at JHU

If your research pursuits may involve animals, you should know that there are all manner of restrictions upon how they may be lawfully transported, handled, housed, and otherwise used for scientific and educational applications.

There are also external, non-governmental organizations that can be highly critical of how animals are used at a research university, even if those uses are authorized by law.

The Animal Care and Use Committee manages University compliance with the Animal Welfare Act regulations and Public Health Service (PHS) policy.

More information to help you determine if you are prepared to lawfully use animals in your work is available on Animal Care and Use Committee’s website.
